Heartland Hospice Holds Special Veterans Ceremony

article-hero-image

Heartland Hospice serving Shawnee and Heartland Hospice serving Oklahoma City and Surrounding Areas celebrate Veteran’s Day every year by honoring and pinning our veteran patients. This Veteran’s Day, they decided to do something a little different at one of their pinning ceremonies.

Manager of Business Development, Marla Crowell, said, “Today was a good day. We always recognize all veterans that have served in the military but today we wanted to do something special for the women at the Veteran's Center in Norman, Oklahoma. There were only 14 female residents in the entire building that served in the military. Most of them were nurses in the Navy. We met with all 14 women, held a special pinning ceremony, gave them a ‘Thank You’ certificate and a rose. At the very end of our visit, we also pinned our very own Julie Milbourn, Nurse Practitioner for Heartland Care Partners, who also served in the Navy. She wanted to be present for this event and we wanted to ensure that we thanked her, as well.”

Heartland Hospice is honored to celebrate the lives of those who have sacrificed to serve and protect our country. We take great pride in honoring all of our veterans, recognizing their unique needs and personalizing our care accordingly. Thank you to all veterans for your courage and for protecting our freedom!
